I was a businesswoman with a successful career in the resources and energy sector. My family's small business background in the building trades taught me the value of hard work. This enabled me to be the first person in my family to finish high school and go to university.

Currently, I am the Chair of Parliament's Economics and Industry Standing Committee, where I've completed our first inquiry into Regional Airfares.

Since coming to office, the McGowan Labor Government and I have delivered extra bus services from Ellenbrook to Midland, and a new bus route to Joondalup and Whitfords

We've started work on safety upgrades to Toodyay Road, commenced the duplication of Lord St, and put out a tender for the detailed planning and design of Ellenbrook Rail.

I first moved to the Swan Hills electorate a decade ago and my family has lived here for almost thirty years. I love the unique lifestyle we enjoy here and want to make a greater contribution to my local community.

As a local, I know that in Swan Hills there was no support for the Liberal Government's plan to privatise Western Power. Our Labor Premier, Mark McGowan has given an iron clad guarantee that he will not sell Western Power if he is the next Premier. I support that commitment 100%. I share the community's concerns about the increased bushfire risk and I also believe that private sector ownership will stifle the development of a sustainable, renewable energy future. That is why I don't support it.

In Ellenbrook especially, I know residents are struggling against severe road congestion and a lack of public transport. It affects access to health care, jobs and education. A Labor Government will fund METRONET, creating jobs, connecting our suburbs and bringing the train line to Ellenbrook. WA Labor built the Joondalup line and the Mandurah line. Only WA Labor is committed to public transport. Only WA Labor will build the Ellenbrook line.

With the current economic downturn, people are also concerned about financial pressures, job security, and want more support for small business. Improved services for youth and proper funding for education are also of vital importance to our community.
