Media release: Multimillion-dollar extension for Aveley Secondary College
- New $4.2 million build at Aveley Secondary College will see second storey addition for additional classroom facilities
- Extra space for 200 students
- Project is in addition to Stage two build underway at the school
Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today announced a $4.2 million expansion at Aveley Secondary College.
The expansion is in addition to the second stage of construction works being delivered under the Public Private Partnership.
A second storey will be built on one of the existing teaching blocks to create an additional eight classrooms, providing permanent space for an additional 200 students.
Stage two - which commenced in November 2019 - will include a performing and visual arts building as well as a senior learning community and lecture theatre.
Aveley Secondary College opened in 2018 and includes an education support centre catering for students with disability.
Predicted enrolments at Aveley Secondary College are expected to continue to grow significantly and the planned expansion will help cater for this growth.
Stage two will be completed for the 2021 school year.
The additional classrooms are expected to be completed by December 2020.
The McGowan Government is investing more than $450 million in 2019-20 to build new schools and upgrade existing facilities across the State, creating jobs for Western Australians and ensuring students have access to modern education facilities.
